Wednesday, June 20, 2012 following 9:30am funeral service at the Chinese Christian Church of RI (Section 72 Lot 19 Grave 1)

Wah Chung “Tom” Lee, was beloved and loving husband, father and grandfather, child of God, Mr. Lee, 87, of Cranston, RI was received in peace into God’s eternal care on June 12, 2012.

Wah Chung Lee was born on January 9, 1925 in Boston to the late Yen and Suey Hong (Goon) Lee. A hard-working restaurateur and chef by profession, together with his late brothers, he was a proprietor of Lee’s Cathay Terrace in Warwick for 26 years prior to retirement in 1986. A resident of Providence and Cranston, Wah Chung Lee was a loved and respected member of the Chinese American community in Rhode Island, a charter member of Rhode Island Association of Chinese Americans and the Rhode Island Chinese Library. He was a founding member of the Chinese Christian Church of Rhode Island and a longtime member of Beneficent Congregational Church, UCC. His abiding passion was for evangelizing Christ’s gospel through the written word.

He is survived by Sylvia Shuet Har Lee, love of his life and wife of 66 years, five children, Janet (John) Leung of Arizona, Debra Lee (Peter Sage) of Oregon, Diane Lee of California, Gordon (Diane M.) Lee of Cranston and Kenneth Lee (Caryl Levine) of California, and six grandchildren, Jennifer and Jonathan Leung, Jared Lee Guyer (Lulu Wang), Dillon Lee Sage, Matthew and Michelle Lee. Tom was predeceased by his brothers, William, George, Robert and Eddie.

A funeral service will be at the Chinese Christian Church of Rhode Island, 333 Roosevelt Ave, Pawtucket on Wednesday, June 20 at 9:30 AM followed with interment at Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown. Calling hours will be at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick on Tuesday from 3-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, friends and relatives are encouraged to donate to the Chinese Christian Church of Rhode Island, the Deacons’ Fund of Beneficent Congregational Church, or the American Cancer Society
