Saturday, May 12, 2012 following 8:30am funeral from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home and 10:00am Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis de Sales Church (Section 74 Lot 22 Grave 2)

Dora (Malpino) May, 89, of North Kingstown, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at South County Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late John Lewis “Louie” May, Sr.

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Giuseppe and Mary (Falco) Malpino, she lived in the Mount Pleasant section of Providence for many years before moving to North Kingstown forty-five years ago.

Dora worked for the Town of North Kingstown School Department, in the cafeteria of the Davisville Middle School, for many years before retiring.

Over the years, Dora displayed her love and affection for her husband, children, grandchildren, extended family and friends. She was well known as a fantastic cook and hostess at the family summer home in Shore Acres, as well as a favorite teacher in the CCD program of Saint Francis de Sales parish. She also volunteered her time and talents at Blessed Sacrament Church, Providence, as a Cub Scout Leader for Den 7, and Saint Francis de Sales Church, where she was a member of the parish Rosary & Altar Society.

She was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High school, where she excelled as a member of the women’s track team.

She is survived by three sons, John L. May, Jr., and his wife Lois, Joseph F. May, James K. May, and his wife Judy, a daughter, Barbara A. Ruggieri, and husband David, all of North Kingstown. She was the mother of the late Richard Dennis May. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, and two great grandsons. She was the grandmother of the late Michael D. Ruggieri.

The funeral will be held Saturday, at 8:30 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road (Rt. 117) Warwick. Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St Francis de Sales Church, School Street, North Kingstown. Burial will be in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 pm.
