George A. Ford, 85, of North Kingstown, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2011. He was the husband of the late Isabella C. (Gendron) Ford.
Born in Lawrence, MA, he was a son of the late George A., Sr. and Mary E. (Mulvey) Ford.
George served in WWII with the Army Air Corps stationed in Iceland until December 1946.
George retired from FM Global (formerly Allendale Insurance) and Quonset Navy Base. He was a former member of St. Francis de Sales Church and Wickford Lanes.
He is survived by 8 children, Frances O’Neill of Fryeburg, ME, Patricia Maguire and Kathleen Baker both of North Kingstown, Louise Gothberg of Warwick, Robert Ford of New Bern, NC, Mary Sowa of Irvine, CA, Michael Ford of North Kingstown and Thomas Ford of Wakefield.; a brother, Joseph Ford of Andover, MA; 17 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; one niece and one nephew. He was the father of the late George O. Ford.
His funeral and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Scalabrini Villa Activities & Staff Appreciation Fund, 860 N. Quidnessett Road, North Kingstown, RI 02852 will be appreciated.
