BETTENCOURT III, JOSEPH F., 79, of Florida Ave., passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at RI Hospital. He was the husband of Dorothy A. (Pick) Bettencourt for 57 years. Born in West Warwick, he was a son of the late Joseph F. and (Dorothy Cook) Bettencourt Jr.
Joseph was a machine operator at The Original Bradford Soap Works for 20 years before retiring in 1999. He previously worked in construction. Joseph enjoyed working on cars and in auto salvage.
He was the father of Joseph F. Bettencourt IV and his wife Christine of Coventry and Michael T. Bettencourt of West Warwick; grandfather of five; great- grandfather of three. Joseph was the brother of Joan Rodrigues, Barbara Johnson, Patty Lemoi all of Coventry, Martin Bettencourt of Exeter and the late Ruth Woods and James Bettencourt.
His Funeral Service will be Monday at 10:00 am in the IANNOTTI Funeral Home, 415 Washington St., (Rte.117), Coventry. Interment in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown. Visiting hours Sunday 4 to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the RI Community Food Bank (www.rifoodbank.org) will be appreciated.
