Monday, May 6, 2013 following 10am Funeral Service at First Baptist Church of East Greenwich (Section 71 Lot 3 Grave 2)

Nicholson, Barbara S., (Spencer), 88, of North Kingstown, passed away May 1, 2013. She was the wife of the late Charles R. Nicholson. Born in East Greenwich, she was a daughter of the late James B. and Helen L. (Stoddard) Spencer.

At the time of her death, Mrs. Nicholson was the longest standing member of the First Baptist Church of East Greenwich, a member of their choir and had served on many of its’ boards. She was also a member of the D.A.R., Nathaniel Greene Pettaquamscutt Chapter. She was known for her homemade Boston baked beans and her pie making. She was a friend to all and never met a stranger. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her six children: Maryann Coulter and her husband Robert, Deborah G. Blinkhorn and her husband Steven, Jeffrey R. Nicholson, Susan W. McCarthy and her husband David, David Scott Nicholson and Karen L. Nicholson; 12 grandchildren: C. Wayne, Robert, Jeffry and Jason Littlefield, Katherine Noland, Kelly Blinkhorn, Erin Nicholson, J.R. “Jay” Nicholson, Jr., Aric McCarthy, Megan Pitts, Colleen McCarthy and D. Ryan McCarthy; 16 great grandchildren: Timothy Cole, Adam, Kayla, Patrick, Courtney and Robbie Littlefield, Ashley Barcellos and Alexis Littlefield,; a sister, Avis B. Gardiner and a brother, Ellsworth Spencer. She was the sister of the late Robert, James “Pep” and Andrew Spencer and grandmother of the late John D. Littlefield.

Funeral Service Monday, May 6th at 10:00am at the First Baptist Church of East Greenwich, 35 Peirce St., Burial will be in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown. Calling hours: Sunday, May 5th 4-8pm at the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Church.
