Section 40 Lot 1 Grave 25

Bradford Fletcher Oxnard, III, 59, of Bristol, died Wednesday at Rhode Island Hospital after becoming ill while on his route driving a bus for RIPTA.

Born in Providence, he was a son of Bradford F. Oxnard Jr. and Louise V. (Murphy) Oxnard of East Greenwich.

Brad served his country proudly in the United States Air Force for 15 years. During this time he earned many medals and awards including an award for being a humanitarian. He was deployed during Operation Desert Storm, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Brad loved to travel and to simply enjoy his life. While in the Air Force he was stationed in Italy, a place that he loved. While there, he enjoyed his free time by playing golf, skiing, sightseeing and taking many photographs. He was also lucky enough to be able to travel to many parts of the United States, including Hawaii, (another place that he loved). Brad had planned on retiring in 2 years, buying himself a jeep and slowly travelling throughout the United States while photographing every bit of nature that he could capture with his lens.

Brad worked as a bus driver for the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority. He loved his job because of the people. Both his fellow workers and his regular riders always made his day worthwhile.

Besides his parents, Brad leaves behind two daughters, Dawn Crystal Oxnard and Margaret Emma Travis; a son, Shaun James Oxnard; four sisters, Martha E. Oxnard and her husband Robert J. Urbani, Jr., Paula L. Marcoux & her husband Paul A. Marcoux, Carol L. Oxnard, Cynthia M. Oxnard and her husband Joseph D. Sanda; and three nephews, Stephen B. Marcoccio, Nicholas G. DeFusco and Craig B. DeFusco. He was the loving father of the late Shane Bradford Oxnard. Brad also leaves behind his former wife, Stephanie Bellem Rogers and his companion Kathleen DeCosta.

The service was held Friday, November 18th, at 10:00 am, in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road,(Rt 117) Warwick. Visiting hours Thursday, November 17th from 4 – 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Brad’s memory to The Audubon Society, 12 Sanderson Road, Smithfield, R.I. 02917 will be appreciated.
