Monday, May 30, 2012 following 1:00pm funeral service at Quidnessett Baptist Church (Section 47 Lot 23 Grave 4)

Brush, Douglas C. (Ret. Captain WPD), 89, of Capron Farm Drive, died Monday, April 23, in RI Hospital. He was the husband of Evelyn J. (MacAuley) Brush to whom he had been married for 62 years.

Born in East Providence, a son of the late William C. and Gertrude J. (Randall) Brush and was a life long resident of Warwick. He was a member of the Buttonwoods Gospel Chapel, Warwick, where he served as an Elder, a founder of the West Bay Christian Academy where he presently is a board member.

He was an Army veteran of WWII, where he received the Purple Heart and the Silver Star. He served in the Warwick Police Department for 26 years and then 12 years with DCYF in RI.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, William C. Brush and his wife, Sandra, of Port Orchard, WA; three daughters, Linda C. Hakala and her husband, William, of New Ipswich, NH; Joanne Brinkerhoff and her husband Steven, of Hartford City, IN; Karen Bethan and her husband, Brian, of Lynchburg, VA; sister, Velma Hegburg and her husband, John, of Warwick; 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral service Monday, April 30, 2012 in the Quidnessett Baptist Church, 6356 Post Road, North Kingstown, at 1 pm. Calling hours Sunday 2-4 pm in the Buttonwoods Gospel Chapel, 311 Buttonwoods Ave., Warwick. Interment in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the West Bay Christian Academy, School Street, North Kingstown or to the Buttonwoods Gospel Chapel. Following the interment Fellowship time in the West Bay Christian Academy.
