Donald E. Sjogren, 67, of Van Buren St. died Monday at home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Vida L. (Sellers) Sjogren.
Born in Warwick a son of the late Carl H. and Mildred M. (Richardson) Sjogren, he was a lifelong resident of Warwick. Mr. Sjogren was a registered nurse at the Eleanor Slater Hospital for 18 years before retiring in 1997 and proudly served as a City of Warwick firefighter for 14 years retiring in 1982. A lifelong member of the Lakewood Baptist Church, he served as a deacon and was the chairman of the property committee for many years.
Besides his wife he leaves 3 sons, David E. Sjogren of West Warwick, Steven C. Sjogren and Kristofer M. Sjogren both of Warwick; a daughter, Merridythe M. Rogers of East Greenwich, a stepdaughter, Deatrice M. Ramos of Cranston, a stepson, Dean Ramos of Pittsfield, MA; a brother, Ronald C. Sjogren of Warwick and 12 grandchildren.
His funeral will be Saturday at 9 AM from the Frank P. Trainor & Sons Funeral Home, 982 Warwick Avenue, Warwick . Funeral Service in Lakewoood Baptist Church, 255 Atlantic Avenue, Warwick at 10 AM. Calling Hours Friday 4-7 PM. Burial will be in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown.
