Cecelia Dora (McGlauflin) Landy Shloul age 88, died on January 18th at her son’s home in Cranston, RI after a short illness. Cecelia was born in Limestone, Maine, the eldest of five children born to Ivan and Eva (Tilley) McGlauflin.
She traveled widely during her marriage to her first husband (Ernest J. Landy) who was an Air Force serviceman. Since then, she has lived in various places including Rhode Island, New Jersey, New York and Florida.
She was an avid quilter and also knitted and crocheted. She worked for the City of Providence during the 1970′s and became fluent in Spanish. She was a life-time member of the Baptist Church and usually very active in the choir as she had a beautiful singing voice. Cecelia belonged to the community at the Fred Lippman Multi-Purpose Center in Hollywood, FL for many years where she taught quilting. Upon moving back to Rhode Island, she joined the Cranston Senior Center and continued joining needlework groups while making new friends. She was predeceased by one son, Ernest J. Landy, Jr. and three siblings, Ivan McGlauflin, Avis Ellis, and Donald McGlauflin.
Cecelia is survived by four of her five children: Eva-Marie Leporacci (Nicholas) of Woonsocket, Jo-Ann Croft of Cranston, Brian Landy (Amelia) of Cranston, and Michael Landy (Cindy) of Sacramento, CA. She has six grandchildren (Nicholas, Joel, Heather, Helen, Kerry, Sean) and eight great-grandchildren (Micheal, Nicole, Jamyle, Danielle, Francesca, Jensen, Michael, Zachary). She is also survived by a sister, Rachel Porter (Berton) of Savannah, NY and Hobe Sound, FL.
A funeral service will be held on Friday at 6:00pm in The Butterfield Chapel 500 Pontiac Avenue Cranston. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service from 4:00-6:00pm.

Auntie
Your Faith was your Beacon of Light that overcame your hardships and helped many,many people. From the Birth Day to the Final Day, there is a dash between the years. That dash is called Life, which you lived to the fullest. I shall remember you in Love, Laughter and Great Cooking. I love you, Auntie.
