White, Everett O. died Monday at the Veteran’s Hospital in Providence. He was the husband of Dorothy (Higson) White and they have been married for 65 years.  He was born in Newport in 1919 a son of the late Everett O. and Katherine (Tainsh) White.

He lived in Cranston for many years and moved to Barrington in 1955. He has been a resident of Middletown since 2008. He was educated at Cranston High School, Moses Brown School and Brown University. He was employed by the Providence Journal Company for 38 years as Credit Manager of the newspapers and the Providence Gravure, and Manager of Purchasing.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in America and a former member of the Barrington Congregational Church. He was a member of St. Johns Lodge #1 F&AM and an associate member of the Roger Williams Family Association. He was a former member of the Barrington Yacht Club, and served the Town of Barrington as Chairman of the Board of Tax Assessors and on the Planning Board. He was a fighter pilot in the Army Air Corps in WWII serving in China with the Flying Tigers of the 14th Air Force, 23rd Group, 75th Squadron. The 75th Squadron of the US Air Force continues to be called the Flying Tigers. He was past president and director of the Advertising Media Credit Executives Association and a Director of the National Newspaper Purchasing Association.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Martha Winsor Pedreira and her husband Dr. Alceu Pedreira of Tiverton, RI, a son, Everett O. White III of Camden Maine, a granddaughter Elizabeth Winsor Hearn and her husband, Dr. Kevin Hearn, and three great grandsons, Will, Charlie, and Andrew of Wheatfield, NY.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11 AM in the First Baptist Church in America, 75 North Main Street Providence, RI 02903. Burial will be private. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church in America or to the Baptist Home of RI c/o ABCORI 54 Exeter Road Exeter, RI 02822.
