Committal Service with Military Honors

Endwell, NY – John Paulson Jr., 85, of Village Drive, died Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City, NY.

He was the son of the late John and Hilma (Franzen) Paulson, Sr. He was also predeceased by his fiance, Patricia Dean. His survivors include his close friends: Bob, Betty and Brett Billings. He also had many friends that he enjoyed at Pulano Therapy.

Born in Warwick, he was an alumni of Brown University Class of 1949 receiving at graduation a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. He also held a master’s degree in computer science. He was a veteran of the United States Army who served during the Korean Conflict. He resided in Broome County, NY for the last 44 years and worked as an engineer for the IBM Corporation in Owego, NY for 41 years.

He was a Mason who was a member of Round Hill Lodge #533, Endicott, NY, the Scottish Rite and of Kalurah Shrine, Endicott, NY. He was a life member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. John was an avid antique clock and antique car collector. He especially enjoyed showing his antique cars in Hershey, PA, winning many national awards.

A funeral service was held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street in Binghamton, NY on Saturday at 10:30 AM, with the Rev. David C. Seaver officiating, preceded by visitation from 9:30 – 10:30.

On Tuesday, November 19, 2013, family and friends will gather at the Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue in West Warwick, RI from 8:45 – 9:30 AM. A graveside service, with the Rev. Todd Stange officiating, will be held at 10 AM in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, 6365 Post Road, North Kingstown, RI. Burial will follow in the family lot where he will be laid to rest beside his parents. In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
