Miriam E. Cary (Horton), 87, of Columbia Street, formerly of Harbour Island Road, Narragansett, passed away peacefully, Saturday, July 13, 2013. She was the wife of the late Forrest J. Cary; and former wife of the late Allen G. “Sandy” Sanderson.

Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Maynard L. and Anna M. (Woodcock) Horton.
Mrs. Cary worked for the Telephone Credit Union before raising her family; she later worked as a bus driver for the Town of Narragansett before retiring.

She enjoyed bowling and was a member of teams at Old Mountain Lanes and Kingstown Bowl.
She leaves two sons, Forrest J. Cary, Jr. and his wife Laura of Wakefield and Andrew J. Cary, Ph.D. of Wakefield; a sister, Virginia Holcombe of North Kingstown; a niece, Donna Holcombe of North Kingstown; and four grandchildren, Samuel, Thomas, Amelia and Tayshia Cary. She was the sister of the late Maynard Horton.

An informal Celebration of Her Life will be held Sunday, July 21, 2013 from 2-6 PM at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Forrest J. Cary, 31 Columbia Street, Wakefield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to The South County Hospital will be appreciated.
