Gifford, Edna May, 95, of Hopkinton, Rhode Island died peacefully on Tuesday April 9, 2013 in West Palm Beach, FL. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles H. Gifford, Jr. Born in New Bedford, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late William and Martha Adams.
She lived in North Kingstown most of her life and the last 20 years in Hope Valley. She is survived by her five children: Barbara Shilling of Dallas, Texas, Cynthia Johnson and her husband Elwood, of Hope Valley, Florence Gormley and her husband Robert of North Kingstown, Charles H. Gifford III and his wife Judy of North Kingstown Pamela Roy of Palmetto, Florida; her adoring grandchildren, Heather, Elwood, Kristin, Kimberly, Gordon, Garret, Amy, Abbie, Katie, Chuck, Tyler, Caitlin, Charlie, and a sister Dorothy Howland of New Bedford, Massachusetts. She was preceded in death by seven siblings and granddaughter Jennifer. She was devoted to her children, grandchildren and her 29 great grandchildren and was an avid Red Sox fan.
Those wishing to pay their respects are welcome to join the family on Saturday, April 13, 2013 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 am, at the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St, East Greenwich with graveside service to follow at Quidnessett Cemetery, North Kingstown. In lieu of flowers the family would ask that donations be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 220 N. Main St. #104, Natick, MA 01760 or Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 1210 Pontiac Ave., Cranston, RI 02920.
