Nancy M. (Carlson) Johnson, 85, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at RI Hospital. She was the wife of the late Albin R. Johnson. Born in Warwick, she was the daughter of the late Arthur J. and Julia L. (Stuns) Carlson.
Nancy was a key punch operator at Universal Winding Company for many years before leaving to raise her family. She was a very faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church.
She is survived by her two children: Raymond A. Johnson and his wife Colleen of Weare, NH and Sharon L. Sweet of Warwick; four grandchildren: Derek Johnson, Jason Sweet, Kyle and Kristin Johnson; a great-grandson Evan; a sister Linnea Benson and her husband Walter of Warwick and two brother-in-laws; Ralph H. Gregson of North Kingstown and A. Howard Ashworth of Warwick. She is predeceased by her sisters Helen I. Gregson and Esther C. Ashworth.
A funeral service will be held at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick on Wednesday, March 27 at 11 AM followed with interment at Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery in North Kingstown. Calling hours will be from 10-11 AM prior to the service. Donations in her memory may be made to Friendship Baptist Church, 2945 West Shore Road, Warwick, RI 02888.
