Edward Savasta (burial)

Warwick – Edward Savasta, 88, of Observatory Road passed away Sunday, March 17, 2013 at home. He was the beloved husband of the late Priscilla J. (MacRoberts) Savasta R.N.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Domenico and Mary (Monti) Savasta, he had been a resident of Warwick since 1953. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II.

Ed worked in the automobile industry retiring only four months ago. For many years he was employed at Beecroft Chevrolet where he first worked as a salesman prior to becoming the General Manager.

For over thirty years he was a member of Norwood Baptist Church. Ed recently expressed how very grateful he was for the Lord in his life and thankful he was for all of the wonderful people in his church that cared for him.

He is survived by four sons: Charles F. Savasta and his wife Deborah of West Warwick, John E. Savasta of Warwick, Thomas R. Savasta and his wife Sheryl of North Providence and Kenneth A. Savasta and his wife Patricia Ashness-Savasta of Warwick; one brother: William Savasta of Cranston; five grandchildren: James Savasta of Cumberland, Jennifer Savasta of Warwick, Amy Gauthier of North Providence, Sherri Savasta of Providence and Larissa Casey of Foster and seven great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister Cecelia Silva.

Ed’s family is remembering him as a man whose life was guided by faith; who was loving and compassionate and who was a man of integrity.

His funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 11:00 am at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Saturday at the funeral home from 9:00 – 11:00. Burial will be in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations sent to Norwood Baptist Church, 48 Budlong Avenue, Warwick, RI 02888.
