Dale L. Johnson, 82, of Cove Avenue died Sunday, December 16, 2012 surrounded by his loving family at Brentwood Nursing Home in Warwick. He was the beloved husband of Miriam G. (Sundin) Johnson who he met on a blind date in 1952 and married on May 1, 1954.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Earl S. and Bessie L. (Peckham) Johnson, he graduated from Cranston High School in 1948. After serving in the United States Army, Dale worked as a textile engraver for Cranston Print Works for many years. He retired from Josten’s, Inc. after more than 20 years employed as a jewelry model cutter.

He was a member of Norwood Baptist Church in Warwick. Dale loved being outdoors especially tending to the gardens and landscaping in his yard. When not working in the yard or waxing his cars he could be found walking around the neighborhood, mostly for the exercise but also to catch up on all the latest news. Johnson and his wife Patricia of North Kingstown; one sister: Dianne Baxter of Swanzey, NH; seven grandchildren: Shannon & Paige Johnson, Mathieu Blanchet, Kayla & Kyle Morin, Meaghan Schobert and Kyle Seymour and three great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Susan M. Johnson and brother of the late Donald Johnson whose wife is Nancy of Seattle, WA.

His family will remember Dale as a kind and gentle man with a sense of humor and a quick wit. A true inspiration, he was always willing to lend a helping hand.
