Wednesday, December 28, 2011 following 10:00am funeral at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home and 11:00am service in St. Barnabas Church (Section 43 Lot 4 Grave 3)

Warwick – Douglas B. Fielder, 83, of Minnesota Avenue and formerly of Coventry, died Friday, December 23, 2011 at Riverview Health Care Community, Coventry. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy L. (Lewis) Fielder to whom he was married for sixty-one years.

Born in Beverly, MA he was a son of the late Earland W. Fielder and the late Mabel V. (Prescott) Fielder-Jones. He was a graduate of Bryant College and he served in the United States Coast Guard during the Korean War. He worked as an accountant for Anson Jewelry for twenty-five years and for the Narragansett Indian Tribe for five years before retiring.

He was a member of St. Barnabas Church in Apponaug and of Harmony Lodge 9 F.&A.M., Cranston. He enjoyed boating and traveling in his motorhome especially with the grandchildren on their many trips together.

Besides his wife he is survived by his daughter Karen R. Gudas and her husband Thomas of Coventry; his brother Earland W. Fielder of Warwick; his daughter-in-law Kathy Fielder of Coventry and his four grandchildren, Kristen and Katelyn Fielder, Beth and Matthew Gudas. He was the father of the late Mark D. Fielder.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 10 AM from Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Ave., West Warwick followed by a service at 11 AM in St. Barnabas Church, 3257 Post Road, Warwick. Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 5:00 – 8:00 PM during which a Masonic memorial service will be held at 7:30 PM. Burial with military honors will be in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown.
