Michael P.McLaren, Sr., 57, of Highwood Drive, Coventry died January 20, 2013 in Kent County Hospital in Warwick. Born in Rhode Island, son of the late Rita McDermott, he had lived in Coventry, previously living in North Providence and Burrillville.
Michael had been a computer engineer for the US Department of Defense in Newport,Rhode Island. He was heavily involved with the Knights of Columbus and found comfort as a hobbyist in woodworking.
He leaves his sons Michael P. McLaren, Jr. of Coventry, Dennis F. McLaren of East Greenwich, and Craig J. McLaren of Norwood, MA;a nephew Dale McDermott; and his grandchildren Alysse, Paris, Ethan and Kathryn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 9am at SS. John and Paul Church, 341 South Main Street, Coventry. Visitation Sunday 4-7pm in the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Burial will be in Quidnessett Cemetery, North Kingstown. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Knights of Columbus Charities.
