Cemetery Benefits from Boy Scout’s Military Flag Replacement Plan

Members of Boy Scout Troop 152, led by Travis Sampson, replaced over 1200 worn and faded flags decorating the graves of U.S. Veterans at Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery in North Kingstown, Rhode Island.

Star Scout, Travis Sampson directs the scouts in the replacement plan.

The Troop annually replaces the flags as a service to the community.

Monday, May 28, 2012 from 3:00-4:00pm
at the Pond

The “TRINITY TRIO” will perform on Memorial Day at Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery next to the Pond.  Covered seating and light refreshments are provided for visitors to the cemetery.

The Trio has Manny Morales on trumpet, Willie  Grear on piano, and Max Grear on bass.  These talented musicians are all students at South Kingstown High School.

It came as both a delight and concern when we found you curled up beside a water spigot alone and deserted.  You didn’t even run away when we approached you, although your ears went back at the sound of approaching footsteps.

DEM told us not to worry about you.  They said that your mother probably ran off to distract prey away from you and would eventually be back for you when she felt it was safe.  Meanwhile, they said you have no scent to attract prey the first 15 days of your life, so you needed to just lie there motionless… and wait.

Amazing how very patient, still and trusting you were.  You laid in that very same secluded spot the entire day.  That night your Mom came back and took you away with her.   We were much relieved and very happy for you.

We were also touched by you.  You reminded us that if we are patient, still and faithful we can be found and saved during our darkest, loneliest hours.

Boy Scout Troop 152

Every year these hard working Boy Scouts from Troop 152 North Kingstown replace all the Veterans burial flags throughout the cemetery.  It is an enormous undertaking considering we have more than 1,350 Veterans resting with the gates of Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery.
